First Day at the HSBC Golf Championship

The HSBC Golf Championship is part of the PGA European Tour.   Many golf notables grace this event this year which is being held at the Sheshan International Golf Club in China.

The first day of the tournament has just ended and Niclas Fasth is leading the pack with 8 under-par first round.  Good score.. He was on top of the leaderboard since he ended his round quite early in the day.  Together with him at the top is Kevin Stadler also at 8 under for the day.

Vijay Singh, fresh from the Barclays Singapore Open last week where he finished second, is also up on the leaderboard behind the leaders at 5 under-par.  Angel Cabrera, the winner of the Barclays Singapore Open is next at 4 under-par.

World no. 2 Phil Mickelson and Padraig Harington are also at 4 under-par.

Ernie Els did not seem to be able to shake off the bad experience from the Barclays Singapore Open where he failed to make the cut.  He shot a 3 over-par 75 to close the first day at the HSBC Open Championship.

Sergio Garcia is at 1 over-par, Lee Westwood at 2-under-par, KJ Choi and Paul Casey also at 4 under-par for the day.
