Regular cardio exercises can also help build the stamina required for golfers to last throughout the 18 holes, especially when the courses are hilly and long.
I am saying this because it has worked for me. I started my regular gym regime since January and I already feel much better physically after a round of golf. I do not feel as exhausted as I used to feel after a round.
