Manage the double break golf putt

As most golfers realise that not all green have only a single break point.  Some greens have double breaks and these are typically the “killers” for beginner golfers.  When we started golf, we learn to read for a break.  Typically from right to left or left to right.

If you watch the pro events, sometimes you see the green double breaks between the ball and the hole.  What this means is that the golf ball, on the way to the hole, will break twice.  For example, it could start off breaking from right to left and then further down break again from left to right.  The 2 degree of breaks maybe different.

When reading a putt that is going to break twice, always over-estimate the second break.  Why would I say so ?  This is because, the ball will break more as expected for the second break due to the fact the ball has travelled some distance and is “losing steam”.  When the ball is losing its momentum or speed, the break is amplified.

The first break will still be okay as the ball is hot off the putter face.

Bear this in mind and go “putt for dough”…..
