Tips to Safe and Healthy Golf

I was sick the last few days and had to miss a round of golf with my buddies. Golf is a game that we all love to play and I decided to list a few tips that we all can observe during our golf games and stay healthy so that we can enjoy the game more.
- Walk the course if possible.
If the course allows, it is always better to walk the whole course of the game. This not only allow us to enjoy the game but also stay healthy at the same time. By walking the course, it works the cardio for the body - keeps the heart healthy.
- Have proper warm-up before very round.
It is always important to warm your body up before any exercise. Golf is not exception. This will help prevent injuries due to sudden exertion of the muscles. Do some stretching exercises for your shoulders, back, arms, hips, etc.
- Drink plenty of water
Drink plenty of water before and during the round. It is wise to drink plenty of water before you even tee-off. This will hydrate your body well. And dont forget to drink water along the way to replenish fluid lost during the golf round.
- Always use sunblock
Direct exposure to the sun can be harmful to the skin due to the infra-red and ultra-violet rays. This is especially when the exposure can be up to 5 hours for a round of golf. Apply as much as required. Do not stingh on the lotion. It is a good practice to always apply sunblock even if the sun is not hot.
- Wear Sunglasses
Wear hat and sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun. Extended exposure of the eyes to very bright objects and to the sun is bad for the eyes. It can permanently damage the eyes.
- Play on safe grounds
As most of us are leisure golfers, we do not need to risk injury by playing on unsafe grounds. If the ball like around rocks and exposed roots, drop the ball out of the zone and play the next stroke.
- Relax when playing golf
Relax and enjoy your game of golf. Joke, laugh, smile, whistle and enjoy your round of golf. Even if you have stakes on the games, relaxing may help you play better.
- Make time for golf
If you relax during your game of golf, it is good to take time off to do a round of golf whenever possible as it may help ease the stress and anxiety from everyday work and life.
