One Tip to Cure a Golf Slice

February 22, 2007 | under Golf Tips, Golf Swing |

In my previous post, I wrote about executing a golf fade shot.  Many golfers who are beginning to play golf may have a slice problem.  That is, they slice most of the time, whether it is off the tee or from the fairway.  This is a common problem mainly for many high handicappers.

One of the reasons for a slice shot in golf, is due to the face position during impact.  In this case, the club face is typically open at impact which causes the club to cut through the ball creating the side spins.

One tip I can provide to golfers who are slicing their shots is to check their grip and hand positions.  Grip your club as you normally would and address the ball.  Look at your grip now. Do you see any knuckles from the left hand ? ( for high handed golfers).  If you don’t see two knuckles then probably you have a weak grip.  This grip will result in the club face being open at impact.

What you can do is to rotate your left hand grip clockwise or towards your right hand and this should expose two knuckles at address.   Next, face your right palm towards your left palm and grip the club.

Practise and this should get your club face square at impact.

Have a good game…
