If you remember, I had a bad golf day a few days ago which I had such a bad game.  You can read the post here.  So, I decided to pay my dear driving range a visit and do my regular swing.  Trying to find out what went wrong and if I can improve my golf swing.  I thought I will share with you some tips (that worked for me) on trying to get your swing back.

So, I collected my bucket of balls, do some warm ups.  Took out my wedge from my bag and took some shots.  Lob shots ok, pitch ok. At least to my standard, they look pretty decent.  At least they are quite close to the target I chose.

Here comes the exciting part.  My driver and my irons…

First I took out my 7-iron and took a few swing.  It does not feel right but still acceptable I think.  Then out came the 3 iron, this is when the headache began.  My long iron shots were all over the place. I remained calm although I fell like exploding with flustration.  Next, I did a half swing. That is  bring the club back till about waist level on the back swing.  And focus myself on making a good contact.  Guess what… I made good contact and the ball when straight.  I like the contact and direction, although the distance is a little short.  This is because I finish off at wait level again on my follow through with my arms extended.  I tried this a few times and it is consistent.

I tried with all my irons and I  hit very decent shots with them.  Good, now I get a good feel of the short backswing, the impact and the follow through.  Now, I try the swing again but this time with a little variance.  Still the same backswing but a full follow through with the belt buckle facing the target.  The shots were clean and I am almost at the regular distance I hit with my iron.  The important thing is that I can hit consistently for all the clubs.

Now, feeling motivated again, I try took out the “big guy”; my Titleist 983K driver.  Well,  trying the same thing on the driver is slightly different, I would say.  I took a half swing, and the ball went but was not as consistent as the results for the iron.  The ball path is low and it doesn’t go very far.  But at least, it is better than the drive on “my bad golf game”.

I am now eager to get back on the course and try my swing…
