First Set of Golf Clubs
January 30, 2007 | under Golf Equipments, Beginners |
When I first started picking up the game of golf some years back,  I always wanted to buy my own golf set.   Can’t wait to have my own golf bag, clubs, towels and others. Maybe it is an excuse to go shopping or to pamper myself. No matter what, I am set on getting my own set of golf clubs.
Should I invest in a high-end set or a beginner’s set ? What brand should I buy ? (or rather what are the pros using ?) Should I buy a brand new set or used one ?
I am sure I am not the only one in that situation. So, if you are asking yourself the same questions, first there are a few factors to consider before heading down to your favorite golf shop.
Well, the first most important consideration is whether you are really into the game of golf and would practise hard to master the golf swing. Make sure that this is not a “short fling”. You have to have the passion about golf to make it last.Â
If you are still not sure and want to try out golf for a longer period of time, then I would suggest that you go for a used set of clubs. Ask around your friends if they have a spare set to lend to you for a period of time. Maybe you can buy a set off your friends and you can even get a good deal from them.
Actually, even a good used set is good for beginners. Firstly, it would be cheaper to start with and this is especially so when you are just starting out and would want your own set of clubs to play with. As being early into the game, your swing is still not “stabilise” and may change as it goes on. Thus, it is difficult as this point of time to determine if a specific set of golf clubs suits your individual swing style.
One of the other factors to consider of course is your budget. How much are you willing to spend ? Golf clubs can be very expensive for the high-end range. Set a realistic budget that you can afford.Â
Basically, ask around your golfing friends and golf pros for their feedbacks. Go visit the retail stores and try out the clubs. Although the make of the club is important, the other factor is psychological. You must ilke the club and feel good golfing with the clubs.
Happy Golfing
